I do not know why, but I have a strange love and attraction towards old architecture forts and castles. This is one more reason that I love Britain and France. One such castle I visited was Caldicot Castle. I not only had fun but also made a good friend who shared my interest. When it comes to old castles and fort and natural landscape beauty, the entire United Kingdom is a treasure chest. Last year in the mid 2010 I went to south east portion of Wales to the town Caldicot. The Caldicot castle is a grand structure that sits on 55 acres of land at the country park.

We hired a guide who showed us around. We learnt that it was founded during the Norman Period and belonged to Thomas of wood stock. He was the fifth son of Edward the Third. However its most famous owner was the Henry V. The ownership then passed to the Duchy of Lancaster during 15th century. I found that the castle was well maintained for its age and the best part was the lush greenery around it. The open space remanded us of the grounds of the ‘Hogwarts castle’ from the famous ‘Harry Potter series’. I and Roy had a great afternoon visiting the Castle.

Last year in October 2010 I was witness to a performance by Kings Cross. The highlight of the performance is that it was played over Ben Nevis. When Robby suggested to me that we go there I thought it was an outlandish Idea. But I have to give it to them, that they successfully climbed the mountain with all the instruments and everything. It became the highest gig performed on the British soil.

I was rather skeptical as to who would turn up to witness the show, but I was surprised that we were nearly 200 people as audience for this gig. I have to say it was fun, it was different and it was crazy. Am I their biggest fan, I would not say that. But I went as this performance was in aid for J’s hospice. It was a noble cause and I must say what they did was really unusual. This also officially kick started their extreme world tour, in which they would be performing in strange and extreme places. The next destination is supposed to be in Oymyakon in Siberia. I wish them good luck for their tour filled with outrageous performances in hazardous conditions.

I have always marveled at the situations, as individuals we have been through in our lives; but it is always the first occurrences that stick in our memories like a strong adhesive. One of my fondest memories I have, is the time I received my first bicycle. The way I rode around those roads with the wind on my face, made me feel I was the fastest person on the galaxy. As time passed by the warmth of the first kiss still lingers around me creating a blanket of nostalgic times. Nothing can change those times, the music, the innocence, the jitters of the first kiss makes me feel it happened just yesterday.

Nobody can forget how their first car looked like. The satisfaction of driving the ol’betty was immense and the pride I used to feel, when I drove my friends around the town was unforgettable. On realistic levels, the materialistic gains which we are in pursuit of now had no importance compared to the joy of the small things we received than. Moreover it is the first thing in our lives that created much larger impacts, as it allowed abundant joy and brought us to a ground where we could dream more further. Sometimes it good to sink in nostalgia isn’t it?
